Dungeon Ghyll
Dungeon Ghyll is a ravine on the north side of the Langdale valley. It's starting point is on the fell slopes between Harrison Stickle and Loft Crag and Pike O'Stickle. From the southern face of Harrison Stickle in Great Langdale the impressive 40 foot Dungeon Ghyll waterfall flows.
The ravine was described in a Wordsworth's poem 'The Idle Shepherd Boy'. The site was loved by Victorian poets and is still a spectacular sight today as it was then.
Parking for the walk up to Dungeon Ghyll is available at the foot of Harrison Stickle.
Another waterfall, known as Dungeon Ghyll Force, is up a path behind the Old Dungeon Ghyll hotel.
