Archway at Turton Tower
A Grade II listed arched gateway in the wall surrounding Turton Tower possibly dating back to the 17th Century but probably not in its original position.
Built from sandstone blocks the arch is round, with large jambstones and dressed voussoirs. The present inner face has a chamfered surround, the outer face is rebated for gates. A roll-moulded weathered coping to the wall steps over the arch to give a rectangular head.
