Located in the heart of Lincoln, England is the majestic Lincoln Castle. This castle has a long and rich history that dates back to 1068 when William the Conqueror ordered its construction as part of his efforts to consolidate Norman power in England.

The castle was built on top of an earlier Iron Age settlement, which gives it an even longer history. Over the centuries, Lincoln Castle served many roles including military stronghold, prison and courthouse.

Today, visitors can explore the grounds and take advantage of activities such as guided tours or attending special events like jousting tournaments and medieval reenactments. Whether you're looking for a day out with family or friends or just wanting to learn more about this fascinating piece of English history, exploring Lincoln Castle is sure to be a memorable experience!

Grade I listed Lincoln Castle has architecture dating from the 11th Century onwards to the 12th, 13th, 14th and 19th Centuries and more modern work relating to an 20th Century restoration.

Notably the East Gateway, entrance arch, West Gatehouse and Square 'observatory tower' date to the 11th Century. The Cobble Hall dates originally to the 13th Century but was remodelled in the 1800s, during which time its height was also reduced from that of the orginal construction.
